Lamborghini Gallardo Beaten Up - What a waste!

A Chinese owner of a Lamborghini Gallardo had it smashed up because off frustration with the service from his local car dealer. So he employed a group of willing people from China’s eastern Shandong province, handed them sledgehammers and safety helmets and let them unleash their fury on the black Lamborghini.

In the UK, the Gallardo costs a wallet-denting £140,000 but in China it would have cost the owner a cool £465,000 ($750,000)

Crowds watched in shock as the group tirelessly went to work on the exotic motor which is understood to have suffered a catalogue of problems since it was delivered in October last year. The owner, a Chinese entrepreneur, is understood to have had the Lamborghini taken to the dealer in November to have an engine malfunction fixed. However, the garage failed to fix the fault and somehow managed to damage the bumper and chassis in the process. After arguing with the dealership and various senior Lamborghini representatives, the owner decided the only way to protect his rights was to have the car smashed up – on World Consumer Rights Day. perfect but sad ending to this cool car.

The Ferrari FF is a super cool four wheel drive hypercar that can accommodate four passengers and loads of shopping...hurray!!! The Ferrari FF replaces the four-seater Ferrari 612 Scalietti but unlike that car, the Ferrari FF has loads of room in the rear. Open the door, flick a switch and the front seats slide forward, beckoning you into one of two amazingly ample rear pews, which offer a tonne of space and enough head room for Gulliver himself! The boot offers 450 litres of space which is more than a Ford Focus hatchback. Fold the seats forward and this capacity is extended to a whopping 800 litres which is enough to accommodate a week's shopping. 

The Ferrari FF interior is naturally super cool and luxurious. Interior technology has often been a disappointment in previous Ferrari's, is well and truly sorted in this model. Passengers in the front (yes, passengers) get their own LCD display indicating the car's engine revs, average and maximum speeds, plus several funky graphs that show exactly how power is being distributed to the four wheels by the car's patented 4RM four-wheel-drive, dual-clutch transmission.

What's more remarkable about this family car is the fact the Ferrari FF doesn't compromise on equipment or performance. Its 6.2-litre V12 engine throws out 651bhp and more torque than you can legally use outside of a private racetrack. 0-62mph flashes up on its computerised virtual instruments in 3.7 seconds and it'll throw up 208mph if you keep your foot planted on the oversize accelerator pedal for long enough.

Those that want to harness the Ferrari FF's power and practicality will need to pay a pretty penny. This cool car will go on sale for a whopping €260,000 (£223,000) so as a family car, it's in a league of its own.

Spotted this cool smart car mini General Lee paint job yesterday and had to post it, awesome!

Cool X-ray Mini

As cool car paint jobs go, this X-ray mini is amazing! The X-ray Mini was created in collaboration with Foxton and contemporary artist Nick Veasey. Tiring with the limits of traditional photography, he imprinted himself on the international art scene using the unlikely medium of a radiography machine

After receiving a former Foxtons Mini at his specially built studio, he promptly set upon it with power tools. “The process begins by cutting the car into manageable sections but BMW makes the Mini in an incredibly complex way,” Veasey explains.

“It took two weeks to angle grind just one side; on the classic Mini, the job was done in three days. The old cars were much simpler in their construction.” While he nostalgically refers to the classic Mini as “one lovely piece of design”, the X-ray process illuminates the second generation’s ergonomic curves and high-spec technology.

 The arresting new artwork encompasses the entire car, stretching seamlessly across every surface to complete the mesmeric optical illusion. Achieving this stunning transparent finish took over one hundred photos: “The real challenge was ensuring we had X-rayed all the components from every angle, taking different shots to cover each perspective – including the roof.”

After digitally stitching all these images together to form complete panels, the final artwork was applied to vinyl shapes and then smoothed across the bodywork. Despite the extra hours' work it entails, Veasey says this project has further fuelled his passion for 3D art.

Introducing Marussia - Cool Car from Russia!

As cool sports cars go, the Marussia is up there with the coolest. Designed and developed in Russia by Marussia Motors, the first Russian manufacturer of the premium class vehicles. According to the data in November 2010, there are two versions of the Marussia cars; Marussia B1 and Marussia B2.

The Marussia is slated to use a 240-hp, 3.5-liter six-cylinder engine, most likely from Renault or Nissan, but it's unclear where the electric drive components will originate from. While much of the car's parts are expected to be sourced from established companies, approximately 35% of the content will be Russian.

Adding a bit of sizzle to its speed, the Marussia will also have "a host of gadgets," including a 4G Yota network with 10 Mbps data transfer rates at vehicle speeds of up to 120 km/h. Bluetooth, GPS and video screens all around, plus a 320 GB hard drive to round out the electronics.

The goal for the electric supercar is a 400km range, but Russian winters mean the batteries will need a boost. That's where nanotechnology comes in. Fomenko thinks the solution might be in a "nanotech project made at one of Russia's big construction bureaus."

The company foresees a 0-62 mph dash of around five seconds and a Tesla-like price tag of $100,000. Plans call for the first customer cars to be delivered next Fall, with race versions taking part in the 2010 edition of FIA GT championship.

John Lennons Cool Psychedelic Rolls Royce

John Lennon's taste for cool cars is well known and his  super cool Rolls Royce Phantom V. chassis 5VD73 with FJB111C license plate is nearly as legendary as the legend himself!

Why Lennon choose Rolls Royce was the opportunity of personalizing it. In 1965 when Lennon got his hands on this Rolls Royce, he immediately set about personalized it.

He started by installing a radio-telephone, then a very special stereo system, a Sony television set, a fridge and a bed in the back seat!

But only Lennon would dream up a paint job like this...

Lennon was unhappy about the dull uncool colour of his Rolls that clashed with his extrovert and magalomaniac personality. So Lennon ordered a psychedelic paint job from a group of Dutch artists, who filled his car with all sorts of cornucopias, multi-colour florals and yellow background. Lennon was stunned and paid £2,000 for it...that's a whole lot of money back in the 60's! Needless to say, the car shocked Britain's mentality at the time, for whom Rolls Royce was motive of national pride. Some say there was an elderly lady who was so shocked she actually hit the car with her umbrella!

In spite of these nuisances, that obviously amused Lennon, the car became The Beatles' main means of transportation until they split-up in 1970

When Lennon and Yoko moved to the USA, the car moved with them. Already on American soil, it was "lent" to other musicians, such as the Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan, until it was placed in a garage and, later, donated to the Cooper-Hewitt Museum in New York, where it remained from 1978 until 1985, when it was finally auctioned. The winning bid reached the $2,299,000 USD and allowed Jim Pattison, a Canadian millionaire to become the proud owner of the famous automobile. Later, as an act of kindness, Pattison offered the car to the queen of England. Today, it can be found on display at the Royal British Columbia Museum in Victoria.

Fisker Karma

Even cool cars like the Fisker Karma uses sex sells when advertising. No ideal what this girl has lost in the back of this car and we really don't care! There's no doubting that the Karma has cool looks and has succeeded in transferring all the promise of the concept car into a production version, but now Fisker will have to begin trying to sell the $88,000 sports sedan.

Hence the new marketing push and the car's appearance at the LA show. If the niche manufacturer can drum up business anywhere it will be in the eco-sensitive City of Angels.

Fisker claims the car "is the first and only true electric vehicle with extended range". The Karma is powered by two 200bhp electric motors which feed on lithium-ion batteries. These are recharged by a 2.0-litre petrol engine mated to a 175kw generator.

The company claims their solution eliminates range anxiety by offering a 300-mile range. The Karma is also capable of 0-60mph in under six seconds while emitting just 83g/km CO2.
 

Corvette Stingray Concept Replica

Chevrolet's 2009 50th Anniversary Corvette Stingray Concept that made its way into the Transformers movies is one of those love it or hate it cars. On the one hand, it was sleek and muscular and pointed to the next generation Corvette. On the other hand, it owed a bit too much design-wise with the 2003 Cadillac Cien and the nods to the original Corvette Stingray appeared a little forced.

Still, I'd find it hard to believe that anyone, even lovers of the '09 Concept, would consider putting down over $40 grand on this so-called replica. It's even harder to believe that underneath all that fibreglass is a 2005 C6 Corvette; it could just have easily been based on a twenty year old Mazda Miata / MX-5 like so many other eBay customs.

So what does the $42,500 "Buy It Now Price" get us? For starters, the underpinnings from the C6 Corvette including its 440 hp LS2 V8 and 6spd automatic transmission. You get a clear title and 29,111 miles on the odometer to boot.



So, what else? Well, the bodywork, exhaust, air intake and interior decals are all new. And an ECU tune is good for a purported, though still unconfirmed, 430 hp. Jet stream blue paint. There's also Jet Stream Blue Paint, LED headlights (which surely can't be road legal) and "adjustable ride control" with "electric tilt front end". Is this a car or a sex toy?
